"Get your kicks on route 66"

IMG_4678.JPG

Coined the 'Mother Road' by John Steinbeck in 'The Grapes of Wrath',  Route 66 turns 90 this year.  And as much as we would love to quit our jobs and organize a 2448 mile tour of the famed auto route from Chicago to Santa Monica, we'll leave that to another time and settle on two club tours- one Eastside ride in August and one Westside ride in October.   We hope you can join us!

Although this romantic Main Street thoroughfare was dismantled officially on June 27, 1985, historic preservation groups and passionate Americana advocates have struggled for decades to restore, preserve and protect what remains of this iconic roadway and the communities through which it passed.  Southern California has done a better job than most in saving and we're going to take this opportunity to pay our pedaling respects to a 20 mile section of perhaps the most famous car routes in the World.
